- 74LS logic — HD74LS181P in DIP-24, the 4-bit arithmetic logic unit, plus HD74LS161AP and HD74LS109AP counters and flip-flops in DIP.
- Static RAM — HM62256BLFP-8T in SOP-28, the 32K×8 SRAM that appears in a great many 1990s and 2000s designs.
- Surface-mount capacitors — TMCP0J106MTRF and TMCMB1C226MTR in SMD packages.
DIP and SOP mounting dominate the range, which suits boards built before surface-mount took over — and boards that were never redesigned afterwards.
Where these still matter
Industrial controllers, test instruments, CNC retrofits and legacy telecom equipment are full of 74LS logic and HM62 SRAM. The parts are cheap, but they are also the reason a machine stays down when a single counter or latch fails. Keeping DIP variants on the shelf is the practical answer.

- The 74LS family has many pin-compatible relatives; confirm the function, not just the package, before substituting.
- SRAM access time is part of the code — a 70 ns part is not interchangeable with a 100 ns one in every design.

Cross-reference notes
74LS parts are often replaced by 74HC equivalents on the assumption that the logic function is what matters. It usually is, but input thresholds and drive current differ between the families, and a circuit that relied on LS-level loading may not behave the same way. For the HM62256 SRAM, pin-compatible 32K×8 devices exist from several makers, but access time and standby current vary — check both before substituting in a timing-critical design.
