Decoding a MAX6315 code

The MAX6315 family illustrates why the suffix cannot be ignored. In MAX6315US29D3-T, US is the SOT143 package, 29 is the reset threshold in tenths of a volt (2.93 volts), D denotes the reset output polarity, 3 is the reset timeout option, and -T marks tape and reel. The 26D2 variant is the same circuit at a 2.63 volt threshold with a shorter timeout. Fitting the wrong threshold on a 3.3 V rail produces a supervisor that never releases reset, which looks exactly like a dead board.

Real-time clocks and GMSL

DS3232 and DS1337 are both I2C clocks but sit at different accuracy points: DS3232 integrates a temperature-compensated oscillator and holds a few parts per million, DS1337 relies on an external crystal and drifts with it. For timekeeping that must survive a year without correction, that difference decides the choice. On the high-speed side, MAX9296A is a GMSL2 deserializer and only works as a pair with a matching GMSL2 serializer and a cable rated for the link rate — the parts on either end are not interchangeable with GMSL1 devices.
