Why the dielectric decides the part
Two 100 nF 0603 capacitors can behave completely differently. A C0G part holds its value across temperature and voltage but offers little capacitance in a small case; an X7R part packs far more capacitance into the same footprint at the cost of voltage coefficient and ageing. Choosing on capacitance alone is how a filter ends up resonant at the wrong frequency.

Substitution pitfalls
Replacing an X5R capacitor with an X7R of the same value is usually safe; replacing a C0G part with X7R is not, because the capacitance of a high-K dielectric falls away under DC bias and the circuit no longer matches its simulation. Voltage coefficient is the number that matters here and it is not printed on the reel. For ferrite beads, impedance at the target frequency decides the part, not the current rating alone.
